Not necessarily satisfying, but still interesting:
1000001th decimal place of 3^(1/3) = 9
1000001th decimal place of 36449604241^(1/29) = 6
WolframAlpha solved the second example in just over a second. so I'm guessing there's an algorithm for it, but not a straightforward one.
The mere 100001th decimal place of 36449604241^(1/29) gives a string including the desired digit:
...02061494563675185733227062783016247523573310541115...
