Visit Validation (Posted on 2022-02-08) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Four ladies-Aurora, Betsy, Cynthia and Dinah visited Emily on 14 February.
  1. The time of each visit is as follows:
    • Aurora at 8:00
    • Betsy at 9:00
    • Cynthia at 10:00
    • Dinah at 11:00
Each time mentioned may be either in AM or PM.
  2. Cynthia did not visit Emily between Betsy and Dinah.
  3. At least one lady visited Emily between Aurora and Betsy.
  4. Aurora did not visit Emily before both Cynthia and Dinah.
Determine at what time each of the four ladies eventually visited Emily.

Solution solution Comment 1 of 1
By #4 A must have visited in the PM.

Since A must be before any other PM visitor, and there would be no visitor berween A and B if B were in the PM also, so B visited in the AM, as did either C or D (or both).

But, because of #2, C did not visit between B and D, C must have visited in the evening but D did so in the morning.

A at 8 PM
B at 9 AM
C at 10 PM
D at 11 AM
