Guessme Ten (Posted on 2003-05-16) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Pronounced as one letter,
And written with three,
Two letters there are,
And two only in me.
I'm double, I'm single,
I'm black, blue, and gray,
I'm read from both ends,
And the same either way.
What am I?

(a) "Pronounced as one letter"->"I" is a homophone of EYE
(b) "And written with three" -> EYE is a 3-letter word, similar or otherwise.
(c) "Two letters there are, And two only in me" -> EYE comprises two distinct letters "E" and "Y"
(d) "I'm double, I'm single" -> A normal person can visualise objects with both(2) eyes, but a one-eyed person can only use 1 eye.
(e) "I'm black, blue, and gray"--> Eye colours of representative people belonging to different ethnic groups may be  different including black, blue, and gray.
(f) "I'm read from both ends, And the same either way" -> EYE is a word palindrome, that is, this word reads the same irrespective of whether it's read from left to right or, right to left.
(g) "What am I" -> I am an  EYE.
