Three friends, Anya, Keir, and Lucy have 3 different actions whenever they come across potentially new information.
One is a Scientist, they are always correct about which statements are true and will always tell the truth.
Another is a Psychiatrist, they like to test people by lying and seeing their reactions - however, they are misinformed.
The remaining one is a Lapidary, they will always try to tell the truth, but they are also misinformed.
They receive information (or misinformation) about each other's behaviours and make the following statements:
- Keir: Lucy is misinformed.
- Anya: I am not misinformed.
- Lucy: Anya is the Psychiatrist.
Determine the professions of the three friends in terms of the clues given above.
What a scientist says is true.
A psychiatrics also speaks the truth, but unbenownst to himself.
The lapidary speaks a falsehood due to his misinformation.
If Keir is the scientist the other two are misinformed (either psychiatrist or lapidary. If Anya were saying a falsehood, she'd be the lapidary, and Lucy would be the psychiatrist, but she can't be as she's speaking a falsehood. But if Anya was saying the truth she'd be the psychiatrist and Lucy would also be making a true statement,which she can't do if she were the lapidary.
If Lucy is the scientist and Anya is the psychiatrist, but speaks a falsehood, which psychiatrists do not do.
If Anya is the scientist: Since Lucy speaks a falsehood as a phychiatrist, but also, she's a lapidary, a contradiction.
I don't see any possibility.
Perhaps there's a flaw in the logic above.
