Undefined Term (Posted on 2008-03-14)

There is a sequence defined by using common mathematical operations.
The first two terms in the sequence are 10 and 12 and the sixth term is 60. The seventh term, however, is undefined.
What are the third, fourth and fifth terms?

The nth term is given by 60/(7-n)

Therefore:

3rd term = 60/(7-3)= 15

4th term = 60/(7-4) =20

5th term = 60/(7-5) = 30

6th term = 60/(7-6) = 60

7th term = 60/(7-7) = undefined

8th term = 60/7-8) = -60

9th term = 60/7-9) = -30
