What is the least possible numbers in a Math Circle, where girls constitute more than 48.5% but less than 50% of the members?
Let the number of females be n and the number of males = n+1.
Then n/(2n+1) > .485
n > .97n + .485
.03n > .485
n > .485/.03 = 16.166666
So Females = 17
Males = 18
Female % = 17/35 = 48.57%
