Lumber Netters (Posted on 2003-09-08) Difficulty: 4 of 5
The numbers in these logical sequences have been replaced by their initial letter.

For example, the letters T, F, S, E, T, T ... correspond to the sequence of even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 ...).

Determine the corresponding numbers for these sequences:

  1. O T S T F T T T F F

  2. T O F T S F E S T N T E

  3. F T O S T S E F T O

  4. O S E F N T S T F T T E

  5. T T F S E T S N T T

  6. F T T S F O S T S F T S

Number three is descending powers of two
512, 256, 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1

The series defined in (1), for any that don't know and might possibly be interested, is called the triangular numbers. They are all the numbers of objects that may be arranged in a triangle (think of 10-pin bowling, snooker and pool balls, etc).
