A man died and went to Heaven. There were thousands of other people there. They were all naked and all looked as they did at the age of 21. He looked around to see if there was anyone he recognised. He saw a couple and he knew immediately that they were Adam and Eve.
How did he know?
The belly button solution assumes that God does not have a navel, and that belly buttons came into existance only later on, when children were carried in utero. To my mind, there is no evidence to support this assumption. How do we know that God and, by extension, Adam and Eve, did not have navels?
And that when Eve conceived her first child, the navel became the most convenient place for the umbilical cord to attach?
Perhaps navels have their own purpose, independent of and predating the one they serve in utero. Certainly navels are pretty cute. At least, mine is. I recommend that we all gaze at ours and see if we can discern their true purpose.
All the paintings of Adam and Eve have navels.
I, for one, refuse to accept this solution. I think the navel is divine.
