If a 7-11 store is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, then why are there locks on the doors?

i had a girlfriend that managed a 7-11 and the reason for the locks is this. if only 1 person works the midnight shift then yhe doors are locked for saftey reasons ans the person is to clean the store until the manager or second employee gets there. it,s a saftey policy.
