Electrical Cube 2 (Posted on 2016-03-25) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Another wire cube with 1 ohm edges, just like the cube is Electrical Cube, is made. But this time the 1 volt battery is connected to two points diagonally opposed on one face of the cube. How much current is in the wire connecting the battery to the cube structure this time?

A diagram of the cube with nodes A-H and battery V:
     A
    /|\
   / | \
  / E \
 / /|\ \
B--F V H--D
 \ \|/ /
  \ G /
   \ | /
    \|/
     C
Due to the symmetry of the cube, nodes B, D, F, and H are equipotent. Then a similar trick to the first problem can be used, except instead of adding shorts we will be creating opens by removing edges BF and DH.

Then the circuit becomes a series-parallel circuit. The total resistance is 3/4 ohm. Then the current is 4/3 ampere. Charlie goes into more detail in his answer.
