A bizarre sequence (Posted on 2003-07-28) Difficulty: 4 of 5
Here's a sequence:

2, 4, 8, 13, 20, 29, _, _.

What numbers go into the blanks, and what is the rule for the sequence?

DJ explains why the numbers are 41 and 57 here

Another possibility is to get the Nth term, you just add the Nth term from the triangle number sequence and the Nth term from the Fibonacci sequence:

Triangle Numbers : 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36.

Fibonacci Numbers : 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21

Add them together to get : 2, 4, 8, 13, 20, 29, 41, 57, so the numbers that go in the blanks are 41 & 57.
