This was solved by D Lehmer. If √2^√2 is rational, the problem is solved. If it's not, then (√2^√2)^√2 is rational. Another solution, of mine: e is irrational, and so is ln(2) --you can find proofs in Internet-- but e^ln(2)=2 is rational.
