Singular squares (Posted on 2008-11-23) Difficulty: 2 of 5
What is the greatest perfect square with different digits in ascending order from left to right?

The same, in descending order?

What is the best way to narrow this search?

The numbers (134689 and 961) are too easy to be found, but nobody devised a way to narrow the search. I didnīt find one too.
