The above equations are true both as Roman expressions and as alphametics, where each letter denotes Arabic numeral.
What is the unique solution?

Clearly, X=3, so C=9.
So, L = 4. and I+V=13 & V-I=3.
Summing those 2 equations we get I=5 and V=8.
The answer therefore is 453+485=938.
