Space Balls - the NEW luggage combination (Posted on 2013-08-15)
After the fiasco with King Roland and the “air shields”, and at Lord Dark Helmets taunting, President Skroob has asked me to come up with a new 5-digit combination for his luggage. The combination I come up with is such that if I add a 1 to the end of the number, I get a number that is 3 times bigger than if I add a 1 to the beginning of the number.
(Of course President Skroob is not smart enough to figure out the combination and has to always ask Lord Dark Helmet anyway.)
Simple math. Let n=number. n with a 1 at the end is simply 10n+1. n with a 1 at the beginning is simply 100,000+n. Set those to be equal with the X3 multiplier on the latter, and you get:
10n+1=3(100000+n)
7n=299999
n=42857
