The original Sam Loyd representation was:

      .       . .      .  .
80.5 + .46 + .97  = 82
True, overdot is very difficult to represent in ASCII. I used common sense to depict a very near display of overdot.
The corresponding vinculum display is more  precise as follows:
      _      __      __
80.5 + .46 + .97 = 82

Looking forward to your super- erudite comment  regarding the inconsiderable effort on my part relating to the foregoing.
