An educated guess (Posted on 2016-04-18) Difficulty: 3 of 5
You throw a perfect die (digits 1 to 6), adding up the results until the total score is over N.

What’s your estimate of the most likely final sum?

Please write down your guess prior to analytical evaluation or simulation.

Some Thoughts re(2): Preliminary guess / my guess | Comment 6 of 7 |
(In reply to re: Preliminary guess by Ady TZIDON)

I was going to guess the average excess is sqrt(6) but on closer reading you don't want the mean, you want the mode.

I guess that would be N+1 since it can be reached by the most smaller numbers in one roll.
