In Leftwrite, every inhabitant is either a lefty or a righty. Lefties write true statements with their left hand and false statements with their right hand. Righties write false statements with their left hand and true statements with their right hand. An inhabitant wrote these statements.
1. This statement was written with my left hand.
2. Both of these statements were written with my right hand.
What type is the inhabitant, and what hand was each statement written with?
1. Statement 1 can only be written by a Leftie, with either the left or the right hand.
2. A Leftie cannot write statement two with the left hand, because that would be a contradiction. Therefore, it was written by the right and it is false. But it can only be false if statement 1 was written with the left hand.
THEREFORE:
a) The Inhabitant is a leftie
b) Statement 1 was written with the left hand, and is true.
c) Statement 2 was written with the right hand, and is false.
