The first first 16 ordinal numbers are written horizontally along the four rows of the 4x4 grid starting from cell(1,1) and ending at cell(4,4)

Thus, we must have:
F-> First
S-> Second
T-> Third
F-> Fourth
F-> Fifth
S-> Sixth
S-> Seventh
E-> Eighth
N-> Ninth
T-> Tenth
E-> Eleventh
T-> Twelfth 
T-> Thirteenth 
F-> Fourteenth 
F-> Fifteenth

The 16th ordinal number is spelled as "Sixteenth", whose first letter is S.
Consequently,  the required missing entry in cell (4,4) must be "S".
