I am wondering if it relates to the Twelve Tribes of Israel, named after the descendants of Jacob (aka Israel). The first letters almost match, except the H does not fit. I am possibly overlooking something lost in translation.  

The tribes may be listed as:

Reuben, Simeon, Ephraim, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Manasseh, and Benjamin
