On Valentine's Day in 1996, there was a snail (his name is Herb) at the bottom of an empty well that is 30 feet tall. The well had run dry, but it had slippery, moss covered walls. So, during the day (he woke up at 6am), Herb was able to climb 3 feet up, but while he slept at night (he went to sleep at 10pm), he slipped back down 2 feet.

he got out on march 12th 1996 because 1996 was a leap year and that means there is 29 days in febuary so if he climbs an average of 1 foot per day then on the 27th day he would be at the full thirty feet because at day 27 he starts at 27 feet and climbs the thhe feeet that he climbs before he goes to sleep and slids back 2 feet he would be out and 27 days from14th of feb. would be 12th of march that is if you count the 14th as the first day
