I think this is an interesting solution. The only problem is it doesn't say "the middle of lengthy", but "lengthy in the middle", so we are looking for something with "lenghty" or something lengthy.

Also, you have to trust that a normal person would NOT know a member of a certain chess club, or a certain game. That would be too detailed for an answer to a riddle.
