Big Circle, Little Circle (Posted on 2002-11-03) Difficulty: 4 of 5

A circle has a radius of 14 cm. Another circle has a radius of 7 cm. The centre of the second circle lies on the circumference of the first. Find The common area for both circles.

(P.S -The answer might not be elegant)

call the centers of circles S(small), L(large)

find circle intersections A and B, angle BSA.
BSA defines a sector, with two segments remaining
to make up the desired area.

to find these do the same as for the previous circle problem. (ie segment = sector - triangle)
