This sequence refers to the first letters of female queens of England, starting with Matilda in 1141, It continues: Jane (1553), Mary (1553-1558), Elizabeth (1558-1603), Mary (1689-1694), Anne (1702-1714), Victoria (1837-1901) and Elizabeth (1952-present day).
