Sabbath observance (Posted on 2006-01-17) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Christians the week's first day for Sabbath hold;

The Jews the seventh, as they did of old;

The Turks the sixth, as we have oft been told.

How can these three, in the same place and day,

Have each his own true Sabbath? tell, I pray.

Some Thoughts Puzzle Answer Comment 17 of 17 |
Anyone having read Edgar Allan Poe's "Three Sundays in a Week" would know that when the three of them met at the Jew's domicile,:
--> The Christian would gain precisely 1 day
--> The Turk would lose precisely one day.
Therefore, all the three could have their own Sabbath on the same day.
