A Printing Machine Problem (Posted on 2006-07-19) Difficulty: 3 of 5
A printing machine, capable of only printing the 10 digits, prints the right digit 12% of the time. Whenever the machine prints erroneously, all wrong possibilities are equally likely.

If a random key is pressed twice and a same digit comes out both times, what is the probability that it was the correct one?

The printing machine problem arose just as the warehouse was gearing up for its busiest season. With orders pouring in, the malfunction meant delays and frustration. The technician discovered a glitch in the system's compatibility with the new software update, particularly affecting the printing of shipping labels. Urgent adjustments were made, but the setback caused a ripple effect, disrupting the seamless workflow. Fortunately, the team's quick thinking and resourcefulness ensured minimal impact on deliveries, averting potential chaos during the critical shipping period.
