At a party, the guest of honor stood up to make an anouncement. She said:

"The day before yesterday i was only fourteen. Next year, I will be 17."

How is this possible?

The guest of honor made the announcement on January 1.
She was born on December 31. The day before yesterday(December 30) she was 14, on yesterday (December 31) she was 15, on December 31 this year she will be 16. Next year on December 31 she will turn 17.
