At a party, the guest of honor stood up to make an anouncement. She said:

"The day before yesterday i was only fourteen. Next year, I will be 17."

How is this possible?

Her birthday was December 31,and she said it on January 1.
The day before yesterday(December 30),she was indeed 14.

Now,she is 15,so this year on December 31 she will be 16.

Therefore,next year,she will be 17.
