Geometric and Arithmetic Area (Posted on 2014-08-15) Difficulty: 3 of 5
In triangle PQR, PQ=QR and RS is the altitude. PR is extended to point T such that QT=10.

The values of tan ∠RQT, tan ∠SQT and tan ∠PQT form a geometric sequence, and:
The values of cot ∠SQT, cot ∠RQT and cot ∠SQR form an arithmetic sequence.

Determine the area of the triangle PQR.

Question Where is S? | Comment 1 of 3

If RS is the altitude then S must lie on PQ. But then angle SQT is the same as angle PQT and we have no geometric sequence.

Am I missing something?

I wonder if QS should be the altitude...
