Consider 9 dots arranged in a three by three square. Connect all these 9 points with four lines without lifting your pen from the paper.

if you wrap the paper around a cylinder you can connect all the dots with one line EVEN IF they are points. the trick is to wrap it at some angle, rather than parallel to the edges of the cylinder.
