The challenge: Pack as many consecutive 3 digit numbers as possible into a 9x9 grid. The numbers may be read from any direction. No leading zeros.

Not a bad explanation at all... I think they only think you missed was: how you use the "fitness" score (in the roulette wheel sampling?) to give the offspring a good chance of improving.
