My only question concerns the rhyming of the riddle. While one might think that Gamer means to be read as is, without the missing word, this would be to accuse him of making the glaring stylistic error of trying to rhyme "is" with "is," earning him a C+ at best from his English teacher. Moreover, it is clear that the last line is too short, and thus we can conclude that Gamer did not fail English, but rather the missing word is supposed to be insterted in the poem.

Specifically, we know that the word must rhyme with "is" and must be no more than one syllable in length, or the last line wouldn't scan. Possible solutions therefore are: "The word I wish for is whiz" or "the word I wish for is quiz." Not that either of these make any sense.

Furthermore, we can make some conclusions as to what is not the solution. I think that we'd be inpugning Gamer's good reputation to suggest that he'd write a poem with either of these final stanzas:

"This might be one expert jest, / Yet friendly to viewers it is; / In this zippy type of poem / The word I wish for is 'quack'"

"This might be one expert jest, / Yet friendly to viewers it is; / In this zippy type of poem / The word I wish for is 'the upturned '5', fingers held side by side before the chest, closed slightly into a grasping position as they move in towards the body'"
