If the probability of observing a car (read: at least one car) in 20 minutes on a highway is 609/625, what is the probability of observing a car (read: at least one) in 5 minutes (assuming constant default probability)?

I love it when you use my nickname! But in response to your question, not giving a source would tend to imply that the problem was the original creation of the proposer, but giving the source could prematurely reveal a solution. I prefer to see original problems, but some recycled ones are probably worthy of the perplexus venue. We live in a world of deceit and conflict, and we cannot expect this site to be a big exception.
