LUMP is the odd one.

A mer - mer is the prefix to meridian, which is the invisible line on the Earth closest to the point of the sun (which means it must be hot and they got lots of sunlight).

Lamp - Gives off light and heat.

A gas - A lot of old stoves and lamps burn off certain gases.

This probably isn't the actual answer, but I suppose it could work...
