Of the words listed below, one is "odd man out." This has
nothing to do with the number of vowels, consonants or
syllables. Can you find the misfit?
LUMP REAM SAGA PALM
My first thought was that the odd one was saga, as it has nordic origin, but then palm is latin, and as I have no idea of lump and ream the origin idea probably goes. However, as saga starts with a consonant and ends with a vowel it is odd compared to the others, but as it had nothing to do with vowels and consonants, it cannot be right either.
Though, I still get saga if think of the appearance of it:
lump, one "up" and one "down": even.
ream, no "up" and no "down" : even.
palm, one "up" and one "down" : even.
saga, no "up" and one "down": odd.
Me being a newbie at this forum probably makes my solutions a bit odd from the ordinary, so, maybe I'm out too? But, as I get saga from my intuition, and from my tests above, I think saga is what popstar dave is after.
