Liar or not? (Posted on 2002-11-12) Difficulty: 3 of 5
A man walks up to you and says:
"Everything I say to you is a lie."

Is he telling you the truth or is he lying?

I would agree with this reasoning, except for the fact that the man doesn't actually tell you anything else.

If he said "My name is Bob, and everything I tell you is a lie", then yes, you can say that him being named Bob will yield a satisfactory paradoxless resolution to the problem.

But since the ONLY thing he said is that everything he says is a lie... I'm not quite sure. This makes the problem interesting.
