A man had a 10-gallon keg full of wine, and an empty jug. On Monday he drew off a jugful of wine and filled up the keg with water. On Friday, after the wine and water had been thorougly mixed, he drew off another jugful and again filled up the keg with water. The keg then contained equal quantities of wine and water.
What was the capacity of the jug?

I just read the question correctly by Jim)
I don't think the days matter at all. It's only a matter of two jugs being removed at separate times. So, we make two separate extractions and remove a total of 5 gallons of wine.
You must have had a flaw in your logic somewhere when you came to .43 gallons as a solution. The maximum wine you can remove in 5 days with a .43 gallon jug is 2.15 - this doesn't even account for the dilution of the wine. Altogether, it takes nearly 16 days to get to a 50/50 mix with a .43 gallon jug.
