Late last night, there was a robbery over on 17th Ave. S.
Very shortly after, ace detective Bill Bonche was on the scene. The residents of the house reported that they saw five people going about during the night of the crime, the first seen at 11:45 and the last at 12:30. They couldn't completely recall all of the suspects' descriptions, but did remember some of the details. For example, one witness noted that she saw a man who was 6'2" tall, but couldn't recall anything else about him or when she saw him.
With the clues the family gave them, you should be able to find out each suspect's height, hair color (including black), mode of transport (one was biking), and what time they came by the crime scene:
- The man who was 5'11" came by the house before the man who was walking (who wasn't the 5'7" man) and the man who has blonde hair.
- The man who was roller-skating was 6'2" or shorter. The man who was 6'6" came by the house after 12:05. The red haired man wasn't walking or running. The biker wasn't 5'7".
- The brown haired man came directly after the 6'9" man, who came directly after the man who was skateboarding, who came some time after the gray-haired man.
- The man who was running came at 12:05. The 6'6" man had blonde hair.
- The man who came at 12:15 was either 5'11" or 6'2". The gray haired man was taller than the man that came at 11:55.
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45 Gray 5'11" Roller-Skating
11:55 Red 5'7" Skateboarding
12:05 Black 6'9" Running
12:15 Brown 6'2" Walking
12:30 Blonde 6'6" Biking
First, let's list everything we're looking for.
The times that the men were seen were at 11:45, 11:55, 12:05, 12:15, and 12:30.
The men's heights were, in order, 5'7", 5'11", 6'2", 6'6", and 6'9".
They had black, gray, red, blonde, and brown hair, and were seen biking, running, walking, roller-skating, and skateboarding.
Now, let's get to work:
The skateboarder didn't come at 11:45, 12:15, or 12:30 (3), nor at 12:05 (4); he came at 11:55.
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45
11:55 Skateboarder
12:05 Running
12:15
12:30
The gray-haired man came before the skater at 11:45; the 6'9" man came directly after at 12:05, and the brown-haired man after him at 12:15 (3).
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45 Gray
11:55 Skateboarder
12:05 6'9" Running
12:15 Brown
12:30
The 6'6" man was blonde (4) and did not come at 11:45 or 11:55 (2), or at 12:05 (the 6'9" man did) or 12:15 (5); he came at 12:30.
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45 Gray
11:55 Skateboarder
12:05 6'9" Running
12:15 Brown
12:30 Blonde 6'6"
The 6'9" man did not have gray, brown, or blonde hair, nor was it red (2); he had black hair (and, by elimination, the skateboarder had red hair).
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45 Gray
11:55 Red Skateboarder
12:05 Black 6'9" Running
12:15 Brown
12:30 Blonde 6'6"
The 6'6" blonde man was not walking (1), roller-skating (2), running (the black-haired man was), or skateboarding (the red-haired man was); he was biking.
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45 Gray
11:55 Red Skateboarder
12:05 Black 6'9" Running
12:15 Brown
12:30 Blonde 6'6" Biking
The man who was walking did not come at 11:55 (skateboarder), 12:05 (runner), or 12:30 (biker), or at 11:45 (1); he came at 12:15 and the roller-skater came at 11:45.
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45 Gray Roller-Skating
11:55 Red Skateboarding
12:05 Black 6'9" Running
12:15 Brown Walking
12:30 Blonde 6'6" Biking
The shortest man, at 5'7", did not come at 12:05 (the 6'9" man did) or 12:30 (the 6'6" man did); he was not the man at 12:15 (5) or the gray-haired man (5) at 11:45. He came at 11:55.
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45 Gray Roller-Skating
11:55 Red 5'7" Skateboarding
12:05 Black 6'9" Running
12:15 Brown Walking
12:30 Blonde 6'6" Biking
The 5'11" man was not walking (1), so he must be the gray-haired roller-skater at 11:45, and the walker is 6'2".
So, the completed table looks as follows:
Time Hair Height Transport
11:45 Gray 5'11" Roller-Skating
11:55 Red 5'7" Skateboarding
12:05 Black 6'9" Running
12:15 Brown 6'2" Walking
12:30 Blonde 6'6" Biking
