Lines of Reasoning (Posted on 2004-09-16) Difficulty: 3 of 5
I recently went on vacation around Europe, I started my trip in Paris, France and stayed for 2 Days,
I then ventured Marseilles, also in France for a further 5 days,
the third portion of the holiday took me to Venice, Italy where I spent 12 days,
I stayed in my penultimate location, Vienna, Austria for 16 days.
The final leg of my trip took me to Sophia, Bulgaria. How long did I stay?

The gazetteer in Goode's world atlas lists the eastern longitudes as follows:

Paris, 2 deg 20 min
Marseille, 5 deg 25 min (note the spelling)
Venice, 12 deg 18 min
Vienna, 16 deg 22 min
Sofia, 23 deg 20 min (note the spelling)

Of course cities are extended areas and at the latitudes of Europe, each mile east or west changes the longitude by about one and a quarter  or one and a fifth minutes.

But, Bruce, that's 23 degrees, not 32 (or 31), for Sofia.
