I recently went on vacation around Europe, I started my trip in Paris, France and stayed for 2 Days,
I then ventured Marseilles, also in France for a further 5 days,
the third portion of the holiday took me to Venice, Italy where I spent 12 days,
I stayed in my penultimate location, Vienna, Austria for 16 days.
The final leg of my trip took me to Sophia, Bulgaria. How long did I stay?

Tricks usually have a misleading element, such as a recent one on the queue which seemed to ask for differences in buoyancy of water at 45 deg F vs 30 deg F, but actually asks that you recognize that 30-deg water is solid.
In the Lines of Reasoning puzzle, it's obvious that the number of days is arbitrarily related to the location; the only question is what the arbitrary relation is: numbers of letters, vowels or consonants in the name, or some other attribute, other than how beautiful the city is or how many museums it has (those would be trivia). Not all puzzles are based on mathematical logic; some just ask for patterns to be recognized.
The only arbitrary relation that would make it fall into another category would be if it really were a sequence, not based on the city at all, as there's a category for that, and the puzzle were based on "2, 5, 12, 16, ... what's the next number?".
