Can the omnipotent God create a stone which he(she?) him(her?)self Cannot carry?
(Note: blasphemy added by levik. Disregard if offensive)
Using calculus, one can actually come up with an answer (sort of) to this problem.
Let's first re-word the question just a little bit: "What happens when an irresistable force (God) comes up against an immovable object (the rock)?"
Well, first of all, an irrisistible force is one that has infinite magnitude. Therefore, F=∞.
However, an immovable object has infinite inertia, and mass, by definition, is a measurement of inertia.
Recall that F=ma. Since we want to know what happens in this situation, we solve for acceleration: F/m=a.
Plug in our values and we get: a=∞/∞.
The form of ∞/∞ is what is called indeterminate.
In other words, we have no idea. Anything could happen. ANYTHING.
Now, if you ask me, that indicates that, should such a God create such a rock, the universe would implode, since (supposedly) God is infallable.
Anywho, that's my take on it.
