There is a verb that has two synonyms, that happen to be antonyms... can you find it?
I have some all time favorites in this category.
I used the first one in a previous post, but Syzygy beat me to it this time:
"To overlook" in the sense of "to supervise" has the synonym "to watch closely"; and in the sense of "to disregard" has the synonym "to make a careless oversight". (It's always amusing to hear about those "oversight committees" in Congress).
"To cite" means to praise publicly ("Mr. Smith was cited today in City Hall for his spotless 50 year driving record"), with the synonym "to laud", but it also means to charge someone with an offense ("Mr. Smith was cited by the arresting officer for drunk driving"). with the synonym of "to accuse of wrongdoing".
