5. Earl: "What Dan said is wrong."

When Miss Jones was consulted, she said, "Three of these boys are knights, but two are liars." Assuming that Miss Jones is correct, can you determine who took the candy bar?

The easiet statement to contradict is Abe's. If he's a Knight, then both Dan and Earl are Knights which can't be true since they contradict each other. So Abe is a liar.

And since Earl and Dan contradict each other one is a liar and one is a knight, so Rex and Jack are knights.

Since Rex says that neither he nor Earl did it and Jack says that either Rex or Abe did it, the only logical choice for the thief is Abe.

So Abe is the thief.
