The two blacksmiths (Posted on 2003-03-17) Difficulty: 3 of 5
There's this town with two blacksmiths - one, a swordsmaker and the other, a shield maker. The swordsmaker's swords can slice through anything as a rule and the other guy's shields cannot be destroyed. Now they get cut up with each other for some reason and pit their wares against each other. What do you expect happens?

My solution is based upon this but with a different twist.
I think one would agree that the sword is the exact opposite of the shield and vice versa. The shield cannot be destroyed, nor can the sword NOT cut anything. This making both of the objects the exact opposites. Let me ask you this first before getting to the solution, what is the exact opposite of 1, how about 1,000,000, or 325,621,646.
If you said the negatives of those answers then i would agree w/ you. The opposite of 1 is -1, 1,000,000 is -1,000,000 etc. The exact opposite of something, in scientific terms, is its anti-particle or its anti-matter. The anti-particle of an electron is a positron, of a neutron is an infinitron etc. But i digress...
So if something is one things opposite, it would cancel it out, make it zero. Thus destroying both objects in a great flash of energy and power. So something that cant be destroyed and something that can only destroy everthing are exact opposites im sure nobody will refute that, then they are each others anti-particle. If they touched in a battle both would immediatly be destroyed in a flash of energy. This is relevant to if a positron(positive electron) hits an electron(negative charge) then they will cancel each other out, in a great flash. What is 1+-1? 0 what is -935,826,723+935,826,723? 0. Each one is the others opposite.
Thats the zero effect explained. But, however, the objects CAN exist in the same universe. But they cant be seen by the person holding them. What is the opposite of light, darkness, can you see darkness, no. One may percieve darkness but you can see it. One i have used throughout this, the electron and positron, they exist in the same universe, infact they are all around you. If they meet, a great deal of energy is exported from the reaction. Since they cancel each other out.

Hope you had fun reading that
