I think the spaces are accidents of the code being put into html and a new line having been started in the source, just to keep the lines of source a convenient size.  A line break in the html source translates into a space on the display.

So I doubt if the spaces are significant.  The line breaks probably are as they were put in with deliberate <br> s.
