Without trying to show me a "smart" person, since the posting of the problem I had an intuition that the title, more specifically, the text "E.T." could be a hint. And I know about the music or the play "Simple Simon Says". And I"d  notice too that "hurts" is in italic.

And as like Dustin discovered, I think too that each group of 4 digits represents a letter. And indeed I search for what letter is represented by "2084", since it is repeated.

You all know better than me, since I'm brazilian and my vocabulary is not extensive as yours.

But, I'll keep on trying, depending on the answer of Larry for one question : "The text has anything in common to the movie "E.T.", that I didn't see" ? The only thing I know of this film, that is showed always is the scene with the finger touching the head of the boy, and the scene of the bycicles. 

"hurts" : a hammer in the finger ????
