Count Sandini calls himself the greatest "Sand Counter" in the world. Show him a bucket filled of sand, and in a few seconds he will tell you how many grains of sand are there!
Can you devise a (fairly quick) test to prove whether he can actually do so, or if he's a fraud?
I would proceed like this : I would fill the bucket but not totally (missing a little bit portion to completelly fill it), hiding in my hand, a very small portion of sand.
After Sandini tell me how many grains there are in the bucket, and letting he look at what I am going to do, I put my hand inside the bucket, pretending to take an amount of sand, and throw away the portion that I've hide in my hand. And let him guess the new portion.
If he answers the same amount as did in the first guess, and if I'm sure that he didn't perceive (is this correct) what I really have done, I think that Sandini could make much money with his gift.
