Yesterday I was at the airport at the capital of one of the US fifty states. There was a sign with two lines: on the first there was the name of the (capital) city, and on the second the name of the state. Curiously, the two lines had no letters in common.
Where was I?

Excluding states that repeat the state name in the capital name, like Oklahoma and Indiana, the two champs are:
Providence, Rhode Island
Columbia, South Carolina
Both have 6 letters in common, with a total of 14 letter occurrences if you combine both names.
