Southern Exposure (Posted on 2005-06-01) Difficulty: 1 of 5
A normal house was built, with 4 walls and a roof. But each wall had a southern exposure. A bear comes up to the window. What color is the bear and why?

Solution Colorado summers | Comment 5 of 47 |
(In reply to A very small bear by Penny)

The bear was a brown grizzly bear.

The summers in Colorado get very hot and, as people are always trying to improve the air circulation in their houses, one very clever guy worked out that if he made his house with all four walls along a straight line he'd get the maximum possible circulation.

Obviously he chose to stick an overhanding awning/roof on his "house", and pointed those walls due south to provide maximal shade.

As for whether or not this is a "normal" house, nothing is normal out west, so the question doesn't apply.
