Certainly conversation is the best way to fully learn a language; I
studied French in my high school years. My first teacher
regularly gave commands in French and expected us to respond similarly
(Then we had a Scottish woman - French with a Scottish accent!!!)
At our local primary school the children are learning Japanese.
That is so much harder because the teacher has no strong Japanese
skills, and has to try to keep just ahead of the students. It
really means that the children get a basic introduction.
Anyway, keep at it, I have no problem with the general flow of your sentences; they are quite coherent.
